Bafta Cymru Awards 2024: BBC's Men Up gets six nominations (2024)

Bafta Cymru has announced the nominations for this year’s awards, with BBC Viagra drama Men Up picking up six nominations.

The BBC's Doctor Who also has five nominations, with Ncuti Gatwa up for best actor, as is Phillip Glenister for his role in another BBC show, Steeltown Murders, which also received five nods.

S4C drama Pren ar y Bryn also picked up five nominations, including Nia Roberts for Best Actress.

“Congratulations to this year’s Bafta Cymru nominees, who on and off-screen have demonstrated exceptional craft and creativity through a very impressive range of work,” said its chair Angharad Mair.

“Today’s Bafta Cymru nominations are a list of must-watch films, TV shows and performances and underscore the importance of nurturing Welsh creative talent,” she added

Men Up saw Aneurin Barnard star as Dr Dylan Pearce, alongside Iwan Rheon, Alexandra Roach, Phaldut Sharma, Paul Rees, and Steffan Rhodri.

It tells the story of the first clinical trials for the drug that eventually became Viagra and helped men with erectile disfunction.

Alexandra Roach was nominated for best actress, with director Ashley Way nominated for best director: fiction.
